The size and complexity of this type of system depends on the sector
in which it must operate. Generally, the vehicles have all the same kit
and the electronic equipments have a reasonable size so that they can
be installed both on cars and on motor vehicles.
The functionality of the system can be described as follows:
- Dressing of the vehicle at the beginning of the shift. All the
information to carry out the shift are sent to the SPM system.
- Coordination of the telephony transmissions from the operator of the
vehicle to the central and from the central to the single vehicle or to
selected groups or to the whole fleet of vehicles in service at the moment.
- Reception and transmission of the alphanumeric messages through a
simplified terminal made up of a functional keyboard and alphanumeric
display. This device enables to communicate from and to the operative
central precodified messages of typical operative situations simply
pressing one or two keys. Typical messages are: impassable road,
mechanical fault, non-successful change of shift, request of an ambulance
for an accident, etc.
- Determining the geographical position of the vehicle with a GPS
satellite receiver.
